3 words to describe you:
grounded, vivacious, inquisitive
Describe your sound:
Describe the moment you knew that you wanted to pursue music:
When I played my mum and dad the first song ever I wrote/ produced. It was a piano ballad i had made on Garage band. I was very reluctant to show anyone as it was so new to me. To my surprise they both loved it, my mum even shed a little tear. I always dreamt about being a musician but that was the moment I believed it was possible.
How does your heritage impact your art?
My Gujarati heritage definitely influences my artist image and personal style immensely. I try to incorporate elements of my culture and religious background in everything I create. Whether it's photo shoots, lyricism or even song titles, my connection to my culture is woven through my artistry. I feel so proud to have been brought up by my wonderful mother, who continues to impart all of her wisdom on me, allowing me to pass our heritage down to future generations. I think this is so important in our culture of assimilation. If there is one thing I want to do through my artistry, it is make people proud of their culture because being South Asian is immensely beautiful.
What moment are you most proud of in your music journey so far?
I remember the moment I finished my upcoming EP. It came after a very difficult period in my life and I will always be proud of the body of work I created in the wake of such events. It is both authentic and deeply personal.
Your next music goal:
My next music goal is to organise an event for young South Asian creatives. It will be music focused but as a multidisciplinary artist myself, I am passionate about giving love to all creative outlets.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who and why?
James Blake. I am such a big fan of his work and ethos in music. I hope to move people the way his music moves me.
