Releases Focus Track Ahead of 2025 EP Growing Out
London, UK – Rising East London soul-pop artist Justin Peng returns with his latest single, “Shelter,” an introspective and emotionally charged track that explores the pain of being someone’s temporary safe space when they won’t fully commit. The poignant lyrics, “I can be all that you want, that you need; I’ll be your shelter,” capture the essence of unrequited, unconditional love, where selfless devotion meets the harsh reality of impermanence.
Drawing inspiration from soulful icons such as George Michael and Sam Smith, Justin’s sound blends R&B, soul, and pop to create something both deeply personal and universally relatable. After winning China Central Television’s Bravo Youngsters competition in 2020, Justin quickly garnered industry recognition, including being named a “Rising Newcomer” by Vogue China and receiving praise from stars like Nicole Scherzinger and Gary Barlow. He also contributed to the 2023 Asian Para Games’ closing ceremony and had a sold-out headline show (the Grace) in London in 2024, in addition to making his festival debut at Liverpool’s Sound City.
Ahead of its release, “Shelter” has gained major popularity on Chinese social platforms TikTok and Xiaohongshu, thanks in part to a viral video Justin posted of himself performing the track live in a church. In the video, when the microphone stopped working mid-performance, Justin continued singing, captivating viewers with his resilience and raw talent. The clip quickly amassed over 70,000 likes and more than a million views in just one day, further elevating Justin’s presence in China.
