3 words to describe you:
Eager, conscious and experimental
3 words to describe your music:
Fresh, experimental, exciting
Describe the moment you knew that you wanted to pursue music:
I used to do music casually, at school or university events and even when I started releasing music I kept it like a hobby, but one show in particular changed everything, I was performing one of my tracks called “Sukoon” at a small venue and in the first row, someone resonated with the song so much that they started crying during the show, a first for m e, that made me mindful of the impact I was having on people and from then onwards I never looked back!
How does your heritage impact your art?
Im ethnically mixed, being Pathan and Punjabi, so I try to bring in my culture whenever I have the opportunity to. Mixing those with the experiences I get to have now!
What moment are you most proud of in your music journey so far?
The ability to work and collaborate with people I’ve grown up listening to, to now them treating me like an integral part of the team while working on something, being part of the community feels like home.
Your next music/career goal:
To take my music to different cultures who probably haven’t heard urban Punjabi music and to be able to perform for them.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who and why?
Tyla, Seedhe Maut & Riz Ahmed. What I love about these artists is that they keep their heritage alive through references, style and performance bridging a gap between where they are from and the rest of the world, and I resonate with that heavily.
