If it does, how does your heritage impact your art?
As a duo of two Asian women of color, both raised in diaspora, our heritages combine in our songwriting and performance. Both of us draw from musical universes outside of Western music- for example Mal is trained in Hindustani classical music and this influences the melodies and modes our songs follow.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who and why?
Laufey- she's a Chinese-Icelandic musician who brings jazz into her work, and her voice is magical.
