Launched in 2011 by former skate punk rocker Toby Hwang and fugitive astrophysicist Annie Ko, Love X Stereo is a dazzling Seoul electro rock duo whose dreamy kaleidoscope of stellar synthpop anthems have enraptured music festival audiences across Asia, Europe, and North America. Love X Stereo headlined at SXSW’s perennially packed ‘K-Pop Night Out’ showcase, and nabbed a best electronic dance album of the year nomination at the 2017 Korean Music Awards.
Accruing artist spotlights and rave reviews in international media outlets such as BBC, Billboard Magazine, and MTV, the critically acclaimed band eschewed the traditional album release routine from 2017 to 2019 and embarked on an ambitious fan-funded project that spawned 37 music video tracks as well as collaborated on original soundtracks for the smash hit Netflix Korea TV series ‘Love Alarm’ and ENA TV drama ‘Summer Strike’ and award-winning indie short film ‘Zero One’. To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Love X Stereo world premiered their new album ‘Xennials’ at the NAMM Believe in Music Week in January 2021.

3 words to describe your music:
dreamy, spacious, melancholy
If it does, how does your heritage impact your art?
We've witnessed the moment when K-pop became a thing. Back then, before 2012, almost nobody cared about South Korean acts to be honest. But then, Psy broke the internet. We remember, when we were touring the States in 2013, at that point, everyone knew Gangnam, and everyone was like, "yo, you're from Korea?", which blew our minds away. Not that we care much about K-pop and the industry itself, but getting recognized enough just because we’re from Seoul, Korea made a huge impact on us, we believe.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who and why?
Massive Attack - We would like to learn thier sensibility on how they actualize their own sound because they have that spacious deep deep sound which we admire so much. Also we'd like to know their live performance system, like how they come up with their whole gear rig set up for live shows. We can also learn so much on how they prepare their artwork and visuals because they are so uniquely them. So much to learn :)
Your next career/music goal:
As always, we thrive to make our own sound as always. We wish to dive deeper into the sound itself, and see how we can swim. (That’s probably why we have so many gears.) Also, we're gonna try and do our best to become an international act, because that's why Love X Stereo started in the first place. We'd like to constantly travel and tour the world, which we have done so far before Covid (just like anyone else). Love to collab with fantastic artists out there. Always.
