A multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and producer, Amna Askari is crafting a sound that blends South Asian sonics with a global approach to bilingual electronic pop. One of the few female producers from Pakistan gaining international recognition, she’s opened for Pakistani pop sensation Hasan Raheem at Electric Brixton and headlined several London shows at esteemed venues. Her latest single, “Maza,” combines an Afro/Latin-inspired groove with qawwali samples and infectious vocals, creating a genre-bending track that’s perfect for setting the party vibe. With her debut EP dropping later in 2024, she’s only just getting started.

Passionate, creative, fun

3 words to describe your music:
Emotional, Fun, Eclectic

Describe the moment you knew that you wanted to pursue music:
I started singing south eastern classical music with an ustad when I was 4. I fell in love with it instantly and knew very early that I wanted to do it for the rest of my life.

How does your heritage impact your art?
Because I was trained on south eastern classical music and grew up in Pakistan, south asian music is a fundamental influence for how I write melodies and also approach music production. I also write in both English and Urdu. A lot of the sounds I use in my songs are from south asia (sitar, flute, tabla).

What moment are you most proud of in your music journey so far?
Opening for Hasan Raheem (big Pakistani artist) at Electric Brixton last year.

Your next music/career goal:
Playing at at least one big UK festival next year (2025)

If you could collaborate with anyone, who and why?
Mura masa. I absolutely love how diverse, creative and incredible his sound is. He's touched several genres but still has an artistic signature and identity. I think we could make something really cool.
